De Nijverheid is een kunstenaarskolonie van ruim 50 makers en kunstenaars uit allerlei verschillende disciplines: een maakplek tot diep in de vezels. De komende maanden hebben we nu ook ruimte voor een aantal interdisciplinaire duo residenties!
Ben je maker of kunstenaar en wil je de uitdaging aangaan om met een andere maker/kunstenaar (mogelijk uit een andere kunstdiscipline) samen in residentie te gaan om een werk te maken? Meld je aan!
DE RESIDENTIES
- De residentie is voor één maand, waarin je even volledig onderdeel wordt van de kunstenaarskolonie van De Nijverheid
- Het is een duo-residentie: wij koppelen twee verschillende makers/kunstenaars aan elkaar (mogelijk uit verschillende kunstdisciplines) met als uitdaging om samen het traject in te gaan en tot een werk te komen.
- Als duo krijg je een maand lang een residentie-atelier van ca. 20m2 met evt. de mogelijkheid tot het gebruiken van de gedeelde hout- en metaalwerkplaats (klein gereedschap zoals accuboor, decoupeerzaag etc. zelf meenemen)
- Iedere artist-in-residence wordt gekoppeld aan een begeleider: dit is in de meeste gevallen een ervaren kunstenaar van De Nijverheid die op een bepaalde manier aansluit op waar jij mee bezig bent.
- Tegen het einde van de residentie is er een presentatiemoment. Het precieze hoe&wat verschilt per residentie, zie hiervoor de specifieke residentieperiodes.
- Voor de residentie ontvang je een vergoeding van 500,- euro.
- Alle residenten worden begin maart terug uitgenodigd om werk te presenteren tijdens de NIJVERVIJVER op zaterdag 9 maart: een kunstfestival waarin o.a. alle residenten en makers/kunstenaars van De Nijverheid werk laten zien.
DE RESIDENTEN
- Je bent beeldend kunstenaar, maker, performer, muzikant, danser, schrijver, dichter, filmmaker of een ander soort maker. Alle disciplines zijn in principe welkom, als kunst maar voorop staat.
- Je wilt een volgende stap zetten in je makerschap. Je ziet de uitdaging zitten om aan een andere kunstenaar/maker gekoppeld te worden en staat open voor interdisciplinair werken.
- Voor zowel individuele kunstenaars/makers als voor duo’s/kleine collectieven
- Voor jonge/opkomende kunstenaars/makers
RESIDENTIE-PERIODES
RESIDENTIE #1
Periode: ma 9 oktober t/m ma 13 november 2023
Presentatiemoment: zo 12 november 2023 tijdens U?! Festival
Locatie eindwerk: een betonnen garagebox (+ optioneel een toiletwagen)
Tijdens deze residentie werk je als duo toe naar een werk dat gepresenteerd wordt tijdens het U?! Festival op De Nijverheid op zondag 12 november. Hiervoor krijg je een betonnen garagebox tot je beschikking van 2,80x6m, met de mogelijkheid om onze toiletwagen daar ook nog bij te betrekken. Uitdaging daarin: mensen moeten nog wel gewoon naar het toilet kunnen.

RESIDENTIE #2
Periode: di 14 november t/m ma 18 december 2023
Presentatiemoment: in het weekend van 15/16/17 december, in overleg.
Locatie eindwerk: nader te bepalen.
Voor deze residentie kun je nog echt alle kanten op, want locatie én presentatiemoment staan nog open. Dus zoek je een residentie met nog alle vrijheid, dan is dit de beste optie.

RESIDENTIE #3
Periode: di 2 januari t/m ma 5 februari 2024
Presentatiemoment: bij voorkeur een doorlopend werk dat t/m 9 maart blijft staan.
Locatie eindwerk: voormalige backstagehok bij het buitenpodium. Een interessante ruimte van 2x2m, die onderdeel uitmaakt van het containerpodium. De ruimte heeft aan één zijde een deur, aan de andere zijde kan de containerdeur helemaal opengeklapt worden, zodat je snel buiten staat. Kan dus zelfs nog een mini-theater/podium zijn.
Deze residentie is voor diegene die zich wil laten uitdagen door een kleine gekke ruimte. Wordt het een klein theatertje? Of toch een bioscoop-voor-één ervaring? Het kan alle kanten op, binnen deze 2x2m.

RESIDENTIE #4 |
Periode: di 6 februari t/m ma 11 maart 2024
Presentatiemoment: zaterdag 9 maart tijdens NIJVERVIJVER festival + 3 maanden
Locatie eindwerk: vier vierkante meters buiten op ons cultuurterras. Precieze locatie is in overleg.
Voor makers en kunstenaars die een werk/performance willen maken voor de open lucht! Hiervoor stellen we vier vierkante meters beschikbaar op ons terras en afhankelijk van de plannen, bepalen we waar. Belangrijke eisen bij dit werk specifiek:
- het werk moet uiteindelijk op een platform (bijv. stelconplaat) staan, zodat het verplaatsbaar is
- het werk is weer- en windbestendig en moet in elk geval drie maanden kunnen blijven staan.
AANMELDEN
Aanmelden kan door dit aanmeldformulier in te vullen. Geef in het formulier ook aan voor welke van bovenstaande residentie(s) je wilt gaan (meerdere opties aanvinken mag). Aanmelden als duo of klein collectief is ook mogelijk, vul hiervoor ook hetzelfde formulier in.
De deadline voor aanmelden is uiterlijk maandag 18 september.
De selectie wordt uiterlijk donderdag 21 september bekendgemaakt.

OPEN CALL | ARTIST RESIDENCIES @ DE NIJVERHEID

De Nijverheid is an artists’ colony of around fifty makers and artists from all different kinds of disciplines: a makerspace to the core. In the coming months De Nijverheid will be creating space for a few interdisciplinary duo residencies!
Are you a maker/performer/artist and would you like to take on the challenge to join forces with another maker/performer/artist to co-create a collaborative work? Apply for one of our residencies!
THE RESIDENCIES
- The residencies are for the duration of one month, in which you will be fully immersed in the artists’ colony of De Nijverheid.
- The residencies are in duo’s: based on the applications, we will select and match different types of makers/performers/artists (possibly from different artistis disciplines) with the challenge to create a work/performance together.
- As a duo, you will get access to your own residency-atelier of around 20m2, with optional possibility to use the common wood- and metalworkplace (small tools/equipment such as screw machines, jigsaws etc are not provided).
- Every artist-in-residence will be coupled with a mentor: most likely this will be a more experienced artist from De Nijverheid.
- Towards the end of your residency there will be a presentation moment. The exact details vary depending on the type of residency and your own type of work. For specifics, see the info on ‘residency periods’ below.
- As artist-in-residence will receive a compensation of 500,- euros.
- All residencies will be invited back to present their work at the NIJVERVIJVER art festival on march 9, 2024: an art festival representing all different makers/artists/performers that either have their atelier/studio at De Nijverheid or that have joined the residency programme.
FOR WHO?
- You are an artist, maker, performer, musician, dancer, writer, poet, film- or theatre maker, or any other type of maker. All types of disciplines are welcome to apply.
- You are eager to take the next step in your artistic career, up for a challenge to work together with a completely different kind of artist/maker and open to work in an interdisciplinary way.
- For both individual artists/makers as well as duo’s/small artistic collectives
- For young/upcoming artists and makers.
RESIDENCY PERIODS
RESIDENCY #1
Period: Monday 9 oktober until Monday 13 november 2023
Presentation moment: Sunday 12 november 2023 during U?! Festival
Location of your final work: a concrete garage-unit (+ optional a toiletwagon)
During this residency as a duo you will be creating something that will be part of the programme at U?! Festival at De Nijverhied, on Sunday the 12th of November. Your destined space will be an interesting space that consists of a concrete garage-unit of 2,80x6m, with the option to also integrate the toiletwagon which is located just opposite of the garage-unit. Extra challenge: visitors will still need to be able to use the toiletwagon, so that’s something to take along in working out your concept.

RESIDENCY #2
Period: Tuesday 14 november until Monday 18 december 2023
Presentation moment: during the weekend of 15/16/17 december
Location of your final work: to be determined
This is the most open residency of all, as both the location and the presentation moment are still to be determined. So if you’re searching for a residency with lots of freedom for your artistic expression, then this might be the better option.

RESIDENCY #3
Period: Tuesday 2 januari until Monday 5 februari 2024
Presentation moment: preferably for the duration of a full month, until March 9th 2024
Location of your final work: our previous backstage area of our outdoor stage. A small but interesting space of 2x2m, which is part of the outdoor container stage. This space has a door on the stage side, on the opposite side the metal container door can be opened completely. It has the potential of being transformed into a peculiar tiny theatre stage, a cinema-for-one experience, or, well – who knows?!

RESIDENCY #4 |
Period: Tuesday 6 februari until Monday 11 maart 2024
Presentatiemoment: Saturday 9 march during NIJVERVIJVER festival + 3 months
Location of your final work: four square meters on our terrace. Exact location to be determined.
For artists who would like to create a work/performance in the open air! We will provide you with four square meters on the terrace and depending on your plans, we will decide the exact spot. Important requirements for this specific residency: the final work should be placed on a platform (to make it manageable to move it if necessary) and it should be weather- and windproof for at least three months ahead.
