‘a yellow cabin’ is een audiovisuele installatie die fungeert als een visueel en sonisch observatiestation, waarbij omgevingsfactoren—zoals regen, wind, elektromagnetische golven en menselijke aanwezigheid—worden omgezet in een voortdurend veranderende audiovisuele compositie. Met alleen de input van wat de omgeving biedt, onderzoekt het de kruising tussen de directheid van field recordings en de complexiteit van realtime processing.
Gehuisvest in een afgedankte industriële cabine, verwijst de installatie naar thema’s van (massa)surveillance en continue monitoring, waarbij bezoekers zowel als passieve subjecten als actieve deelnemers worden gepositioneerd. ‘a yellow cabin’ is van nature site-specific en interactief, en is afgestemd op de omgeving van De Nijverheid.
