het werk ‘Ut Ut’ neemt maker Luka Slijkerman afscheid van zijn geboortestad Utrecht. Binnenkort verhuist hij door het woningtekort zijn geliefde stad uit. Ut Ut is een eerbetoon aan plekken die voor Slijkerman belangrijk zijn geworden tijdens de jaren die hij hier woonde. Luka verwijst met de betonnen blokken waarmee hij zijn torens vorm geeft naar de vergeefse bouwlust van de stad. Door het lompe materiaal te combineren met de zorgvuldig uitgekozen en vervolgens gezeefdrukte architectonische afbeeldingen ziet de kijker de stad zoals de maker hem ziet: groots, druk en vol prachtige details voor wie de moeite neemt even stil te staan en rond te kijken.

With his artwork ‘Ut Ut’, creator Luka Slijkerman says goodbye to his hometown Utrecht. Soon he will have to move out of his beloved city due to the housing shortage. Ut Ut is a tribute to all the places that have come to matter to Slijkerman in the years he lived here. The concrete blocks that Luka uses to form his towers refer to the city’s futile desire to build. By combining the blunt material with the carefully selected and screenprinted architectural images, the spectator sees the city the way the artist sees it: big, busy and full of beautfiul details for those who make the effort to quiet for a moment and look around.
