De kreet die menige keel ontglipt op een schommel—of je er nu vanaf springt of niet—wordt in dit werk letterlijk de schommel zelf. De eerste twee A’s vormen het frame, waardoor het woord niet alleen de ervaring uitdrukt, maar ook fysiek de schommel draagt die die ervaring mogelijk maakt.Tijdens de opening lanceerde de kunstenaar zichzelf met een luide AAAAAAAAH!! het kanaal in. Op 1 juni 2024 werd hij huurder bij De Nijverheid. Precies een jaar later markeert deze rituele sprong dat moment.
Domas van Wijk onderzoekt in zijn werk hoe inhoud en drager elkaar beïnvloeden. Niet als losstaande elementen, maar als gelijkwaardige onderdelen die samen betekenis vormen. Humor en lichtheid zijn daarbij serieuze instrumenten—zoals ook dit werk laat zien: een schreeuw, een sprong en een speels gebaar richting een gemeenschap die, volgens de kunstenaar zelf, “aanvoelt als een warm bad.”

The scream that escapes many a throat on a swing—whether you jump off or not—becomes, in this work, quite literally the swing itself. The first two A’s form the frame, making the word not only express the experience, but also physically support the swing that makes that experience possible. During the opening, the artist launched himself into the canal with a loud AAAAAAAAH!! On June 1, 2024, he became a tenant at De Nijverheid. Exactly one year later, this ritual leap marks that moment.
In his work, Domas van Wijk explores how content and form influence each other. Not as separate elements, but as equal parts that together create meaning. Humor and playfulness are serious tools in this process—as this work demonstrates: a scream, a leap, and a playful gesture toward a community that, according to the artist himself, “feels like a warm bath.”
