De Nijverheid en Amarte bundelen krachten en bieden dit najaar twee interdisciplinaire performance-gerichte duo-residenties aan. Ben jij een maker binnen een performatieve discipline (dans, theater, spoken word, performance kunst)? Lees hier alles over de open call en hoe je je kunt aanmelden.

Voor wie?
De open call is gericht op in Nederland gevestigde performatieve makers die graag de grenzen van hun discipline verkennen of verleggen en die bewust de stap willen maken om met een maker uit een andere discipline aan de slag te gaan. De focus ligt op het ontwikkelen van een small space performance: een performance begrensd door een fysieke ruimte, maar onbegrensd door definities van discipline en genre. Deze performance zal aan het einde van de residentie gepresenteerd worden op De Nijverheid.

Wat kun je verwachten?
- Twee weken residentie: in een korte intensieve periode van ruim twee weken ga je samen met je mede-resident aan de slag. De twee residentieperiodes zijn:
- Residentie #1 – do 24 oktober t/m zo 10 november
- performance tijdens U? Festival op za 9 november bij De Nijverheid
- Residentie #2 – do 14 november t/m zo 1 december
- performance tijdens AtelierTournee op za 30 november bij De Nijverheid
- Residentie #1 – do 24 oktober t/m zo 10 november
- Interdisciplinair en performance gericht: de residentie richt zich op kruisbestuiving onder makers vanuit verschillende disciplines. Voor iedere residentie worden twee makers uit verschillende performatieve disciplines aan elkaar gekoppeld. Als duo ga je de residentie in om samen tot een nieuw performatief werk te komen.
- Residentie atelier: als duo heb je voor twee weken je eigen residentie-atelier bij De Nijverheid: 20m2 aan eigen binnenruimte.
- Artistieke begeleiding: als duo koppelen we je ook aan een begeleider die jullie gedurende de residentieperiode gaat begeleiden op voornamelijk artistiek, maar ook zakelijk/organisatorisch vlak. Deze begeleider wordt geselecteerd/gevraagd door de selectiecommissie en op basis van wat passend is bij het residentenduo.
- Performance tijdens een programma bij De Nijverheid: de residentie werkt toe naar een performance als resultaat. De performance kan doorlopend gepresenteerd worden (mits dat de vorm is), óf meermaals worden opgevoerd. Residentie #1 presenteert tijdens het U? Festival (onderdeel van Le Guess Who?) op zaterdag 9 november en residentie #2 presenteert tijdens het programma AtelierTournee op zaterdag 30 november. Dit zijn beide programma’s waarbij veel publiek verwacht wordt en waarbij de performances onderdeel worden van een groter multidisciplinair programma-aanbod.
- Vergoeding: een vergoeding voor deelname aan de residentie van 1500,- euro per resident. Daarnaast ontvang je een vergoeding voor de performancedag van 250,- euro per resident.

Beoordeling
Selectie wordt gedaan op basis van de artistieke kwaliteit van de aanmelding (op basis van portfolio + artist statement), de motivatie om interdisciplinair te willen werken én de motivatie om in residentie te willen gaan mét een andere maker. De selectie en matchmaking ligt in handen van een selectiecomité bestaande uit het programmateam van De Nijverheid en het Amarte Fonds.
De selectie wordt op 27 september bekendgemaakt.

in het aanmeldformulier vragen we je o.a. om een portfolio als bijlage mee te sturen in het formulier.
Als maker kun je je solo aanmelden, het is niet mogelijk om je aan te melden als duo of gezelschap.

Over De Nijverheid
De Nijverheid is een culturele vrijhaven in het Werkspoorkwartier van Utrecht, met ruim 60 makers en kunstenaars uit allerlei verschillende disciplines: een maakplek tot diep in de vezels. OPEN CALL DE NIJVERHEID X AMARTE – PERFORMANCE RESIDENCIES OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2024
De Nijverheid and Amarte are joining forces and offering two interdisciplinary performance-oriented duo residencies this fall. Are you an artist or maker within a performative discipline (dance, theater, spoken word, performance art)? Read all about the open call and how to register here.

For whom?
The open call is aimed at performative artists based in the Netherlands who would like to explore or push the boundaries of their discipline and who are eager to work with an artist/maker from another discipline. The focus is on developing a small space performance: a performance bounded by a physical space, but unbounded by definitions of discipline and genre. This performance will be presented at De Nijverheid at the end of the residency.

What to expect?
- Two-week residency: in a short intensive period of just over two weeks you will work together with your co-resident. The two residency periods are:
- Residence #1 – Thu 24 October to Sun 10 November
performance during U? Festival on Sat November 9 at De Nijverheid
- Residence #2 – Thu 14 November to Sun 1 December
performance during AtelierTournee on Sat November 30 at De Nijverheid
- Interdisciplinary and performance-oriented: the residency focuses on cross-pollination among makers from different disciplines. For each residency, two makers from different performative disciplines are paired together. You enter the residency as a duo to create a new performative work together.
- Residency atelier: as a duo you will be provided with your own residency atelier at De Nijverheid for two weeks: 20m2 of private indoor space.
- Artistic guidance: as a duo we will pair you with a supervisor who will guide you during the residency period, mainly on an artistic, but also business/organizational level. This supervisor is selected/requested by the selection committee and based on what is appropriate for the resident duo.
- Performance during a program at De Nijverheid: the residency works towards a performance as a result. The performance can be either presented as an ongoing performance or it can be performed several times during the day. Residence #1 will present their performance at U? Festival (as part of Le Guess Who?) on Saturday November 9. Residency #2 will present their performance at the AtelierTournee program on Saturday November 30. These are both programs where a large audience is expected and where the performances become part of a larger multidisciplinary program offering.
- Reimbursement: a reimbursement for participation in the residency of EUR 1,500 per resident. You will also receive a compensation for the performance day of 250 euros per resident.

Selection
Selection will be based on the artistic quality of the application (based on portfolio + artist statement), the motivation for working interdisciplinary and the motivation for participating in a residency with another maker. The selection and matchmaking will be done by a selection committee consisting of the program team of De Nijverheid and the Amarte Foundation. The final selection will be announced on September 27.
